Junkyard Find: 1978 Dodge Ramcharger (http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2013/12/junkyard-find-1978-dodge-ramcharger/)

QuoteEven though Denver wrecking yards are always full of old trucks, the Dodge Ramcharger (http://www.allpar.com/trucks/ramcharger.html) isn't quite as common as its GM, Ford, and Jeep rivals. In fact, this Royal SE '83 Ramcharger (http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2012/08/junkyard-find-1983-dodge-ramcharger-royal-se/) is the only example we've seen in this series, prior to today's find. This tan Dodge is every bit as Malaise-y as the yellow '76 Wagoneer we saw last month (http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2013/11/junkyard-find-1976-jeep-wagoneer/), so let's look at these photos and imagine what it was like driving a 9 MPG truck during a period of high inflation and steep gas prices...

You can read more of the article at the link, but check out the 1978 Chrysler video, comparing the Ramcharger, Bronco, and Blazer head-to-head!

QuoteIf you want to use a new convertible to tow anything larger than a Jet Ski these days, your options are pretty much limited to a Jeep Wrangler. In the early 1970s, however, there were a number of beefy, open-air vehicles on the market, such as the Chevrolet Blazer, the Ford Bronco, the International Scout, the Toyota Land Cruiser, and, of course, the Wrangler's predecessor, the CJ, which drove straight off WWII battlefields and has been for sale ever since.

Chrysler took its sweet time creating a product to compete in this category, introducing the Dodge Ramcharger and its badge-engineered sibling, the Plymouth Trail Duster, more than a decade after the Scout kick-started the segment. Dodge had launched an all-new pickup for 1972, and a record number of trucks were sold market-wide in 1973, so the Ramcharger was a logical next step. Unfortunately for Chrysler, consumers and the U.S. government started seriously caring about fuel economy when OPEC enacted an oil embargo in late 1973, so the Ramcharger never had the chance to live as freely as its rivals had in the years prior. (Even more ill-timed for Chrysler was the aggressive revamp of its higher-volume, full-size lineup for '74.)...

Got '77 Ramcharger with a factory 440?

The story is about a guy in WA state with an ancient GM graveyard - pretty cool link in the story to his website.  But in the FOX news link, he JUST inherited, what sounds like, a decent, functional, '77 Ramcharger, which he only plans on asking $2750 for!

I've already checked dansgarage.net website - it ain't listed yet.  But if you're INTERESTED, contact him PRONTO!
