Ryan make sure ur on the top dead center of the compression stroke. The computer can only adjust so far. If its to far it will think it's a tooth off.

yeah its not the dizzy. I have the new tuner working with me now. we found an extra 60 hp so far!!!

now the issue is 2 fold...
1) stock exhaust don't cut it. I have been reccomended that I need long tube headers and 3" dual exhaust for the engine. I was a bit shocked as that seems really big to me, but its also a big engine and doing lots of breathing.

2) Stock intake don't cut it... lol this I guess is a given, but its what I have right now. Its making vacuum at WOT when it should not and running way rich. I think I found a used one I can try to get tonight to see how that helps.

I don't think I mentioned this, but its finally getting to the point that I can no longer do my old driving style that has worked for me in every ramcharger I have owned.

That is when you are ready to go you put the skinny pedal to the floor till you reach desired speed.  :evil6:

its a very strange feeling to have it accelerate faster. Its by no means a speed demon yet but its faster than it was.

:icon_scratch:  Why didn't you try the M1 since you already have it?  If you didn't like it, you are only out time and a couple of gaskets.

i thought the M1 was already on the engine because of the picture he posted had it installed already.

Saw them both for sale and only one left at last check.

engine builder said m1 runs bad on full size  truck, suggested the Hughes airgape

was hard for me to buy since I don't drink their cool aid lol

then what intake did you have on it in the picture you posted on page 15?

rjtx667

had the Hughes air gap in the pics of the engine.... the 5.9 out of the Dakota had the m1 on it... and I have a m1 on the 91 (92 magnum in it)

it always seemed to do ok to me, even the 5.2 I pulled did decent with it so who knows :dontknow:

what?

the 408 has always had... only ever had the Hughes airgap intake

I had a m1 before I pulled the engine and had a m1 from the Dakota. sold 1 working on selling the other. the Dakota will get a stock intake out back on it

in post 241 i thought you said you put a stock intake manifold on it.

rjtx667

ah!!! :violent1:

I had a leak on a header and I had to put the stock exhaust manifold back on while I wait for new headers to come in.

I picked up a used cold air intake today for 80 so I think that's a good deal, now to see if it helps.

I have it scheduled for dual exhaust on Friday, should be interesting to get it there with headers only lol

just got my spectre cold air intake installed and did a few runs.

I have to say that while we (tuner and myself) are lost as to why it's not breaking tires yet, I was very impressed that the estimated 5300# truck is doing 0-60 in 6.81 seconds!!

I looked up data I a 93 ramcharger, it was like 3700 lbs... 0-60 like 9.3 a d 1/4 mile in 17 seconds with top speed of 78mph!!!

I am not 100% sure those are accurate but can't be far off if not :laughing4:

so to think the newer heavier truck is moving like that.... I am impressed. granted also figure it's stock exhaust manifolds and an exhaust system that is less than 1/2 the size it needs to be ( single 2.25 vs dual 2.5)

wow I am deaf!!!!

drove the truck in to exhaust shop with headers only!!!

it was not bad getting them installed, but I have to say its going to be some work to tweak stuff.

they are very long, go past the tranny pan, so my cooler lines which are rubber have to be watched for.

Here is a pic of the cold air intake too, its interesting but I might try to improve it.  :13:

and last but not least I installed some LED's on the dash I like it   :headbang:
