Highlights why - even in a crowded place like LA, where they're ALWAYS trying to push you into a bus or a rideshare - that so many people still have their OWN car.

When someone ELSE is behind the wheel, all you can do is HANG ON; be it a bus, a Porsche, or a bad motorscooter.  His death is ironic, and sad, but just one more reason why I HATE riding with others - my wife included!

Someone who came on the crash site posted video of it right after it happened. You're right WW. I hate when I am not driving!

the video's have been added to the bottom of the article you linked to. this is why i don't like new cars in general. there is not very much real metal between you and what you hit.

That's why I LUVVVVVVVVVVVV my Ramcharger (bumper)!

Lousy for off-roading - AWESOME, for rush hour traffic!  :headbang:

that bumper also don't look like it would dent too easily if you were to hit a tree for light post. i know i put a small dent in the bumper on my 81 when it rolled into a cement light post. i almost thought the light post was going to fall over.

I think at the speed those guys were going, bumper or no bumper, it would have been tragic.  Speed  kills ... pure and simple.   :(

i think with a real steel bumper you stand a lot better chance of living as long as you are wearing your seat belt than you to with those new cars and there plastic bumpers.
