Title: BD's 79 Ramcharger SE
Post by: blueduster on January 16, 2014, 06:53:44 PM
Not going to start completely from the beginning, most of you know me and my truck from RCC.

Just a recap. Bought it February 2008 from the son of the original owner. Dad was a Marine who bought it in San Diego new while stationed at Camp Pendelton. He retired in 1985 to his ranch near AZ. It was there until 2007 when he passed away. His son lived two blocks from me in Pahrump, NV. Jeremy (son) is a Mopar guy but already had a 06 Rubicon unlimited, a Ram Cummins and the wife had a new Charger R/T. Oh, a 68 Coronet 440 R/T being restored in the garage. But his wife decided enough was enough. He'd given it to a local car lot to sell for him when he saw me in my old 84. That night he knocked on my door. $2200 and 6 months of getting jacked around by AZ DMV I finally had a pop top....

So I had a nv4500 that was going in my 84 until I realized just how bad the rust was. So I put it and a Dana300 in it that April. Wheeled it like crazy for a year including the 08 Moab get together. 09 I swapped the axles for 83 part-timers.

2011 I finally started on the magnum build. Moved to San Diego that summer and it sat for a year. Finally brought it to San Diego and got her back on the road. Swapped to 4.56 gears and new Skyjacker lift. Drove it to Moab again last September,  found a few issues and had some brand new parts fail but had fun and made it home.
Now we are debating what efi will add for MPG vs the cost of a hemi or diesel swap. Also being in CA there is the smog police. It's still registered in NV for now.

you got a pretty nice RC. i wouldn't mind getting a 70's RC but it is hard finding one up here that is in decent shape and my 93 RC is keeping me broke.

Going to either weld that bumper(bolted together)  or build a new one before Moab. Need to move the guard up closer to vertical so I can mount lights on it. This is the way I found it back in 2008 in a jy. Threw some paint on it and hung it.
