Dodge Destruction Details / MOAB
June 12, 2016, 09:59:20 AM
The time is coming for a Moab adventure. Tow rigs and trailers are coming together, our vehicles are stronger than they have ever been, and Hidden Falls will continue to become more challenging and add more wear and tear. Thus, I propose maybe one lead up outing, but all in an effort to truly make it to Moab after Easter Jeep Weekend in 2017. Immediate thoughts and availability?

For me personally, I believe we can camp each night, or if we have a large enough group, have a good long train going and drive at night, especially at the start of the drive through Texas to capitalize on cooler night temps and to drive slower.

As a teenager....Plan B meant a great night, and a stressful morning.

Now.....big boy toys

Dodge Destruction Details / Late Summer Outing
June 05, 2016, 06:21:31 PM
Well, I figured I might throw this subject out there and see how much traction it gained. We could also still shoot for a fall / early winter run as well, but we certainly stand a chance to get wet in the fall.

Misc for Sale / Interior Siding for 85 RC

I have good plastics (blue) that are in good shape and I would hate for them to go to waste. The truck will never see a paved road again and they are worth saving. Open to trade / sell.

Vehicle Help / 2001 6.0 Vortec Programmer Ideas?
January 10, 2016, 10:13:45 PM
Any recommendations on a good programmer for a 2001 6.0 Vortec motor? Does anyone have any direct experience with one? If so, was it really worth it?

Wanted or Trades / Early 2000's Truck Wanted
December 21, 2015, 03:39:51 PM
Looking for a reasonable upgrade for the family truck. Need a Crew Cab, over-built 1500, or 2500, gas or diesel, and preferably a 4x4 local to Texas. (Looking for Dodge, Chevy, or Toyota). Looking for 115k or less miles.

Feel free to let this thread turn into a freeforall of recommendations / bashing.

Projects / Project Keystone: Declassified
October 14, 2015, 04:45:56 PM
Many of you may not be aware of what was brewing, pun intended, in ole Wimberley, Texas.  ::) About three years ago I was invited to tag along at Marble Falls Adventure Park with some members here, and really get my first taste of real rocks with real repercussions; I was fortunate to be riding in a well built machine, and certainly enjoyed the experience. Two years ago I was somehow talked into the notion that I was in need of a 4x4 trail rig to keep up with some buddies and this love of "wheelin". After many a humbugs, ehhs, ahhs, maybe's, and tomorrows, an ad on Craigslist appeared, and lo and behold, it was in Wimberley, our backyard. We loaded up and went searching the backroads for this elixir. We found it, guarded by quite the collection of characters, beaten, bruised, broken in many areas, doors falling off, engine sputtering and burning whatever poor oil was still there. A handshake later, it was mine, and we awaited delivery a few days later. While questioning this purchase, the RamCharger was delivered from a flat pull across town. Needless to say the brakes were on fire, and as the smoke dissipated, we were left with what was really in front of us....the greatest vehicle on earth. Keystone, as it was later dubbed for obvious reasons, (if its not obvious its not for you) would soon come to symbolize the true underdog, which certainly saw its fair share of usage on the Hook of Shame. You may ask yourself, well, why didn't you drag this poor molested vehicle back into the wilderness and put it out of its misery? Because, despite being bone stock, floating on old tires with questionable (at best) brakes Keystone went just about everywhere and anywhere you could point it. Numerous attempts and trips were made with a goal to simply break parts; all of which failed.  :dontknow:

Pictures of some of the first runs and Marble Falls are attached. Fortunately, after two years of parts accumulations and innumerable man-hours from friends with the DodgeSickness, Keystone is on the way up.  :confused2:

Pictures of the transformation to come soon.  :headbang:

General Discussion / Brake Controllers - Best Value
March 25, 2015, 07:38:35 AM
Good Morning, Gents

I am looking to install a Brake Controller for a 1999 Chevy Silverado. The trailer will most likely only have one braking axel, and should be a simple setup. However, I wanted to check in to see if anyone had some recommendations on the "best bang for your buck" on the market today. Thank you! :victory:

In order to more efficiently procrastinate at work, I decided that I could not live one more moment without a survey of Hidden Falls trails and their respective difficulty based off of recent trips, not the maps they printed 5 years ago. Scale is as follows:

"Requires a RamCharger" on the high side  :headbang:  :steeringwheel:
"Requires a Insert Joke Here" for the tweeners   :icon_salut:  :violent1:
"Requires a Furd" on the low side  :dontknow: :confused2:
