Vehicle Help / What grade of oil?
January 01, 2014, 03:33:13 PM
Okay as I said I would be asking alot of question. My RC has finally made it to Texas. So I noticed that it most likely needs an oil change. Now because the seller isn't speaking to me anymore I guess, I was wondering if some of you might have a suggestion on what oil I should use. I use full synthetic in my Titan but it is a 2010. Should I use high mileage, and if so the what grade? 10w-40? I have tried to google it and nothing. Thanks in advance for the help.

80W150 Hope that you are okay with me using this I don't know your real name yet.  :). I bought a 1984 AW 150 RC. Now when I bought it I was told that it was in great condition. Which for the most part it is. I saw no problem with the mechanics. The only thing that did worry me was the oil pressure was high but as the truck started to warm up it came down to normal limits. The thing that does make me upset is that the lower quarter panel from the drivers door back to the rear wheel well is rust. The WHOLE THING. Also, on the driverside from the rear wheel well to the bumper is suspect too. I looked underneath the vehicle from what I saw it looks pretty good and the passenger side looks fine. The rust is so bad that you could touch it and pieces will fall off. I don't understand how he couldn't mention it. The pictures must have been touched up because they do not show this at all. Then there is the seats. The three told tears. Yeah but what about the thirty other that have been sewn together with fishing line. No that is not a typo. Fishing line. So, I have a new project. Instead of keeping it original I have a plan. It will me my Mad Max RC. Flat back truck and rims. Oh and NEW TIRES have about 3/32s before they are to low to pass the inspection. The exhaust is also just barely holding on. The u-bolt holding the driver side exhaust is half way through the pipe, all of that and just before he steps out of the truck he tells me that the horn stopped working a week before I flew up there. Like he didn't have time to get it fixed. Everyone knows your horn has to work to pass inspection.

Six Gun: By the pictures it was suppose to me be mint except a rear main seal leak, and three total tears in the interior. Trust me man I completely regret all the money I have spent to buy that thing and get it to Houston which the carrier I already paid to get it here sent me an "adjusted date of delivery" which is now the 23rd of December.

I am still happy with it though and I will make the best of this situation. If anything is just give me an excuse to learn more about mechanics, electrical, and body work. See lemonade out of lemons. Huge gigantic lemons.

Hey everyone I am finally back in the States and have been for a about two weeks now. I have been settling in and I have missed this forum. I finally was able to make it to Reno and pay for my Ramcharger and arrange shipping. I also found out that some of what I was told was a lie. I am going to have to do a TON of body work, replace the exhaust, and fix a horn. I only hope that I have to do one of those before I can get her inspected for a Texas tag. I am so aggravated right now about the whole situation, but I am still happy to have, mechanically she seems to be in good running order. I may also in the next month or so be asking a lot of stupid and technical question so please bear with me.  :cwm21:

Well things went from bad to worse. I finally received a response from the dealership that I was wanting to buy the truck from and they said that they would not be able to take my truck off my hands. So, I have to either sell it privately which I would regret, or sell it to someone like Carmax which would completely undercut me on the price. So, it looks like I will just keep the Nissan and try to pay off some of my credit issues with what was going to be the down payment on the diesel truck.

Yeah it was a pretty truck. I am looking at a Ford platinum F350 SWR. Its the same price. Only 144k miles on a 7.3lt. I hope it last for a week. I doubt it though.

Well it doesn't matter they sold the truck today and all the other CTD's are way out of my price rance :disgust:

Okay so I have posed this question on some diesel forums and I have really received any assistance. So I was wondering with all the knowledge that is on this site if I would ask some guys on here for there help. I am a fan of diesels so I hope that no one misunderstand. I have also had a few. So here is my post on the other sites:

I would like some help. I have been thinking about purchasing a diesel truck because the Nissan Titan that I own is not capable of towing much at all. So if I needed to tow my RC I just wouldn't be able too. I have been thinking of selling my Titan, and with that looking at some Rams with CTD. I have found one that I like but to me it seems over priced.

Here is the link for the truck that I have found that I like but for the miles it really seems well over what I would want to pay. I know that its a diesel and all that, but mechanical parts wear. 200,000 miles is a lot for mechanical parts maybe not the engine but trans, transfer case, diffs. Am I wrong to think that this should be at least a couple thousand cheaper?

Yeah thats a great idea. If you look at the black area it looks based off of bad pictures that the plate may be too thin for it to be a 4wd option  :dontknow:. However, for all the guys who have 2wd these things would look sick.   :laughing7:

Vehicle Help / HEP!!!!!!

Hello all I was just wondering if someone could take a look at this link and tell me if you think these are rated for a 4wd truck. It doesn't say specifically, but if you look it up by part number on google images it comes up with 4wd rotors as well as these cross drilled and slotted rotors. I would appreciate any input.  Oh yeah and thanks War Wagon showing me how good they would look on my RC, now I am foaming at the mouth hoping these will work.

When I left the Marines in 2007 they told me that if I didn't turn in all my gear that was fine I would have to pay for it, but they said that if I sold to a pawn shop or establishment like that then they would accept responsibility for having unlawful government property. I thought it was stupid and never really made sense. If I bought from them and sold it to someone else then how is it unlawful? They told me not to argue. So I turned it all in.

I would venture to guess that some Marines went to the dumpster and took all the old BDU camo stuff out and sold it after the Marines replaced their stock with digital counterparts. Some officer got wise to it an reported it, even though they were going to throw it away anyway.
