I hear you on the back. A couple of years ago I had back surgery and now I don't move with the aclarity I used to. I bought a tire step (truck service step http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200332573_200332573 ) That's about the only way I can climb into the engine bay anymore. Also sitting up on the trailer  doesn't help when trying to get under the hood. does make it nice for crawling underneath though.

Remembered this thread after finding Rod Hall's FB page. A guy just bought his old '76 car. There are two pics of it https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rod-Hall-Racing/398841456878817?group_id=0

Don't think that would help. I bought it in 07 and it's been on the trailer most of the time since then due to various reasons. right now I'm slowly exchanging out for a 4bbl setup. With the colder temps moving in, I may be done for the winter. i no longer find it as much fun working on vehicles outside in the cold weather as I did 25/30 years ago (becoming older, fat and lazy doesn't help )

General Discussion / Re: Got 331 Hemi?
November 01, 2013, 04:54:29 PM
www.thehemi.com is a good forum with lots of knowledge of the first gen Hemi.
The 331 has an extended bellhousing which makes it difficult to mate with most anything. The extended bh can be cut off and an adapter mated so that it will take a modern transmission. I'm not at home right now but there are several good books on the first gen Hemi. Pick up the book, Tex Smith's The Complete Chrysler Hemi engine Manual. It's a good read and a must own book for the first gen Hemi section.
Hot Heads (www.hothemiheads.com) deals in nothing but Hemi stuff and has it's own small forum. the H.A.M.B. (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/) also has a lot of Hemi knowledge. A guy going by T.R.Waters (on Ebay, theHemi.com and has a website) sells some misc parts) (recently got a plain valley pan from him for a good price).
These engines are really cool and can be built to make a ton of torque.

I've got a 354 Hemi sitting in my basement in pieces. Had it for about twenty five years now. Even have most of the parts to rebuild it!!

Another option instead of snorkeling would be to run a tube to inside the cab. Up under the dash should draw pretty dry air (if there's water up to your dash, you're usually in more trouble than not!)

On a recent Trucks(?) episode they showed a universal kit that had all sorts of bends. They were putting a CAI in their Fodge.
You just cut out the pieces you needed. Sorry, I don't recall the mfgr

The opening scene in TLB was cool. The Daytona (King Daytona) was actually Big Wille's street racer back then. Search using Big Willie Robinson - quite a character!! His wife had a Daytona also!
