Well, might as well start a thread on this critter... Picked it up from Ernest. So with that being said, this is how we loaded it because he wanted to keep axles...

So we loaded it up & then pulled the axles out, bound it down & I brought it home...

Next trick was the unloading... I didn't have a fancy  boom like Ernest so I had to make due.

Now that its unloaded, I had to get it ready for the frame swap. The 1986 Ramcharger beast is going to donate the frame / running gear to this truck.  After getting all body bolts off, I cut the rear section of frame from under the 82 as to get cross timbers under the body.

Now we are up to date on the project. I got the tub off the doner frame & next is to clean up the frame & mount a stock gas tank.  Then I will be ready to set the new tub on the old frame. This next stage of putting the tub on the frame is going to be the trickiest.  Once it is on, the wiring nightmare begins. Still don't know if I'm going to use the stock 92 wiring harness or graft the 86 onto the 82's bulkhead connector.  got to find some diagrams, but then the 82 was heavily modified in the wiring department...  :017:

i don't know if this will help or not but when i swapped the engine out of a 87 b250 into my 91 d150 i used the 87's harness and it made the engine run and everything work properly other than having to extend a few wires. sing you got the wiring harness from a 86 i think it should be the same. if you want i can try locating the bulk head connector diagram for both 86 and 92 to see the differences

Looking Good Will

Why The body swap? Ready for a full top again?

Are you going to keep the roll cage? If Not let me know!! I will take it! I can even pick it up on my way back home from La  ;D

I know you wanted to make it street legal.  It will look real nice but are you gonna offroad it still?

The current body was street legal, (at one time), but the body being cut it had a lot of cab wobble. No structural integrity left except cage & it was just bolted to the floor. didn't go to the frame like it should have.

Im prety sure Im gonna use most of the 86 wiring harness.  I may end up just dropping the dash & swap out the complete harness.  The 82 was hacked pretty good since Ron & Nick had the magnum & computer setup in the 82's body...  one advantage is im not using the stock ignition, Im using a MSD, so that makes that part a lot easier.

Here's some more of the story on this truck.  Nick bought it and I took him up I-45 to get it.  Wiring had been modified by a previous owner.  Then Nick decided he wanted a bigger engine and bought a 360 Magnum.  I helped him install it.  This required a major wiring change for the Megasquirt computer.

The 318 went in my yellow truck.  Then Nick got tired of the RC so I bought it.  I took the 360 and the tranny and put them in the yellow truck.  This was a disaster for the wiring again because I took some to go with the Magnum...

Then Richard had a cracked block after coming to College Station to get Ernest to re-build his 318 so then he got the 318 that came out of this truck.

Ernest kept the axles, the tires went to my yellow truck along with the motor and tranny, Richard has the block and Will has the rest.

I think we have spread this vehicle just about as far as it can go.

wow thats a pretty colorful history... just 1 part of it needs to go to the purple jeep  :headband:

Will,

I have a complete dash harness from a 91 if that would help any?

Richard has the rest of the harness, so you have to fight him for that  :evil6:

I also have a 92 FSM if that is needed at some point.

Ernest initially wanted it, but no price had been discussed... The racing seats & 4points would go with the cage.   To get it to come out I will have to make the old body a pop top. ...  :13:
