are you talking about the heat option on the control panel? when you have it in that setting it don't put out very good heat? on the heat setting it pumps air to the windshield and floor. i know i have always found it a bit strange but i guess it isn't a new vehicle.
Ya only the heat on the windshield vents seems to be functional. Any other setting it doesn't do anything.

I've got the old Haynes manual which helps a lot. The windshield has a big crack in it so I need to replace that anyways. Do the vacuum hoses run off the carb or somewhere else?

General Discussion / Air and Heat

Well gentlemen, Its starting to get cold in the mornings in georgia and over the country and my ramcharger's heat is not cutting it. Only the window defroster vents seem to be working but it might just be coming from the motor. Does anybody know of how I can give my whole air and Heat system a nice tune up? I don't mind rolling the windows down when it's hot but it'd be cool to have an old truck with AC. Any input will help. Thanks guys

General Discussion / TC stall speed, gears, tire size
September 20, 2016, 07:45:10 PM
Well the 727 finally had her last shift on a trail the other night so I'm looking to rebuild it. Buying individual parts like shift kit, deep pan, secondary trans cooler, and a torque converter. I have a rebuilt 360 V8 that is pretty much factory spec, 3.55 gears, and 35 inch BFG mud terrains. I plan on regearing to 4.10s around tax season but I am confused as to what a good torque converter stall would be for the truck. I use her off road a lot but then take her home to drive her to work on Monday. 10 minute drive so not bad but I do take the highway to go wheeling and would like to have better road worthiness and handle well off-road. I'm getting the transgo TF2 shift kit just really confused on what stall speed I should have since ive never dealt with that. Any advice would be really appreciated thank you guys in advance.

Vehicle Help / Ramcharger drive plate locked up
June 04, 2016, 01:18:35 PM
Hey guys. I'm installing a rebuilt 360 in my 87 ramcharger with a 727 and when I installed the drive plate to the fly wheel the crankshaft won't spin all the way. It spins a good bit but won't fully rotate. It locks up. Could the drive plate be in backwards? All 4 drive plate bolts are in the right spot and I don't see anything protruding to block it. Any ideas?? I'm stumped and about to pull the motor back out and take a look but I figured I'd ask y'all in case I skipped something stupid.

Update: talked to a guy who works on columns and he said either need to get in there with a flat head or take the upper housing off. Shouldn't have to pull the gear housing

And I can pull the rod and start the truck so I know it works and isn't stuck.

Ya I have tilt steering the housing to the right of my finger is in the way of the linkage between the lock cylinder and rod

I had something similar happen on my 85 RC.  Key would not turn forward when I first bought it. I sprayed WD 40 and lightly tapped the key into the cylinder.  A pin or something was stuck inside. It turned forward after working it like that a few times.

Hope this helps.

If this doesn't work, inspect the switch on the lower column to be sure nothing is binding.
OK so I got to take a look at it today and it's actually the actuator rod, it ended up disconnected somehow. I can't get it connected because the gear housing (I think is what it's called) is in the way. I can't find anywhere in the manual on how to remove the housing or replace the actuator rod. Any clue on how to do that?

hey guys, first time posting. i have an 87 ramcharger with a 360 and last night i went wheeling with a buddy of mine. when i got home it was almost impossible to turn the key into the off position. Through a little extra M. A. N. i was able to turn it off but when i got up this morning to go to work i couldnt get the ignition into the start position. I can turn the battery on but thats how far it goes and the key is also stuck into the ignition and wont come out. i can see the rod on the column moving but it seems like its stuck. Any ideas would be much appreciated  :13:
