Sound like you are getting to the fun part! Congrats on the tune!! Next thing you know, you'll have M/T E.T.s on the back w/12 lbs of air in 'em, front sway bar disco'ed and a pinion snubber out back!
You are on a very slippery slope, my freind! :headbang:

I don't think it will go that far, its setup to tow and drive, not run down the strip.

Now if I can't find better insurance that will give me an agreed value, then I don't know how often I am going to get to keep driving it either  :angry5:

So quick update. I bought a new 53mm throttle body and got it put on friday after work. It seemed to help a good bit. We did a few more tunes on it and by sat afternoon I was heading to to drag strip  :headbang:

I met a few other Dodge guys out there, from a Dakota RT forum I found that has lots of 408's on it. One guy's dakota with a carb'd 390 does a mean 11 sec 1/4 mile  :confused2:

It was interesting getting peoples reaction to the truck, some knew what it was and almost wet themselves because they got to see it, others were asking what it was and still others thought I had built it or something.  :dontknow:

I had a blast and was great getting to hang out with other Mopar nuts. I did 9 passes, and they were decent enough I think for "a box on wheels" as I call it. The DA (density Altitude) was horrible and had everyone running 3/10 or more of a second slow.

Here are my runs, the Response time improved once I realized I needed to floor it on the 3rd yellow and not wait till green. The 2 times I did 89 mph was when I forgot to put it in 2nd and it shifted early on me.

All in all I am happy with a 14.669, damn fast for a box on wheels lol.

I was able to beat a newer avenger (easily), I also had several good runs on a 360 dakota. I did 2 or 3 runs against a newer (08 or up?) Ram 1500 single cab with a 5.7, 4.56 gears and a tune. I did not smoke him, but I consistently out ran him by 2/10ths or better.

I can see how people get sucked into this, as its a blast and lots of great people out there. While I plan to go again and at least hang out or maybe do a few runs, I don't plan to get sucked into it as this is a tow truck and its exactly what I want.

Several people stated I had done exactly right with the truck and its what they would have done.  :13:

well I had a strange 1 liner email last night.

U wanna sell that Mexican Ramcharger?

no clue who it is, but  looks like someone off RCC by the address and path the email too.

I responded with a "anything is for sale for a price, but at this point my price is not what you would consider reasonable or fair."

:evil6:

lets see if I get a response.

So this was a interesting weekend, started off by blowing a cap out of the rear yoke of the driveshaft. Did enough damage to de-form the driveshaft yoke.

I got another u joint in there and thought it was good, started out with the trailer and "Tristan" the 93 RC. Made it about 60 miles and it did it again. :angry4:

took 4 hrs to get parts again and make repairs. It held for the rest of the trip, but I was not taking chances.

Wed I took it to a driveshaft shop and had a new yoke put on, When I swapped rear ends out the diff yoke was bigger which meant I had to use a crossover u joint. I question if I ever had the right one and that was my issue, but I resolved it by having them install a new bigger yoke that matched.

It looks good and runs good. Also found out this is the ticker of the 2 materials used for driveshafts and with it being as short as it is, I should have no issues with my HP range now. :13:

The last thing I did today, was I got new tires. 265/70R17, a little bigger than I really wanted,  but the size I wanted (275/60R17) was hard to find and cost a little more with very few selections. So I went with smaller tires than I had and got a really good one. It changed how the truck looks just a little.... lowered it a bit too  :13:

I just want to brag on Ryan's "truck" a bit.  Those of us that got to see and especially hear it were really impressed at Ram Jam.  He drove in when it was dark and the rumpety-rump was awesome.  Ryan left it idling while we unloaded him.  Sounds like a hot rod and looks stealthy in the daylight.  Real nice vehicle   :sign0098:

next time we have to do some driving... it drives a bit like a hot rod too  :evil6:

not a 10 sec 1/4 but its fast enough for what it is.

thanks for the compliment.  :13:

so who did you get to do the tuning? i know you mentions having issues with the hemifever tune slowing you down and mentions something about someone on dakotart.com being a wiz. only reason i ask is i think there is someone on another forum that might be having issues related to a hemifever tune and might benefit from a second opinion.

I know that there hasn't been any response to this post in a while, but I was wondering how you found your Mexican ramcharger? I think that is one sick looking ride. I just don't even know where to look, I mean of course Mexico, but I mean online or wherever.  I live in Houston and I have never seen one of those here. I don't speak the lingo so I wouldn't know how to find one in Mexico. Just wondering how you found it.

Joe, I believe the guy that helped Ryan get the 2000 RC goes by Dodgestrike on this site if I'm not mistaken.
