Little progress, got me a angle grinder and some 36 grit sand paper.

You can defiantly still see the issue, and its really hard to get a dolly back behind it to work it out more but I figure its better than it was and should require less bondo as it is. The last section I need to  fill the holes up before I primer it.

I also got all the spots trying to rust treated and covered so that should not be an issue any more. Think I am about ready to turn it around and work on the other side some.

I always just stuck to a 4 1/2 inch grinder or pistol grinder with some 120 grit flap disk. Just dont stay on one area too long ;)

harbor frieght is great... 19.95 for a angle grinder and 7 for the disk kit. I can get tools with that price :-)

So I have not done a hole lot to the body, I am hoping to try and weld some holes up tomorrow.

With news that the 91 is suppose to be back home monday I took the time today to work on preping the 2000 for some paint work.

I have been told to "remove it all" but then they back petaled when I mentioned it would not run without the dash  :laughing7:

So now its even more naked lol.

No carpet
no headliner
no plastic what so ever
No "quad cab" window
no door front window
No door wire harness
no speakers
No rear seat
no console or pass seat

I still need to

take out the rear glass
take out the hatch glass
clean up sides and floor from "padding"
remove hatch wire harness so its out of the way

Since I plan to use this to pull the 91 home, I want to leave the driver seat and windshield in place until it gets there. Once at the shop I can work to remove both and load them up to take to my house.

The shop that has the 91 has given me a much better price than the other places, I had just been concerned about them not getting it done because it took so long with the 91. It seems I finally got a good fire lit under them and they are moving full speed ahead now.

I have to say it was a lot of work to get it stripped, but did not take as long as I figured it would. Granted the glass will take me a while just because I am more cautious about it. I bought my own cutter so I don't have to pay anyone else though.

I was also happy to find that it already has all the wires for the A/C I am working to install as well.

hey Ryan if it is pre-wired I can send the parts you're missing to do the install sooner , still have to figure door panels and the other pieces.

Well the 91 is now home and the 2000 is at the body shop.

The glass guy will stop by tomorrow and pull the rest of the glass (for the price he quoted I decided he could do it  :laughing7: )

They want to have it ready to put the first coat on Saturday. I guess we shall see how it goes. I am excited now.

I will get some pics as they do the work. I plan to stop by every day after work lol

glass is out, they are finishing up the body work now.

They wanted to paint on sat, but things just did not come together as we needed so it will be early next week.

They did get the paint, so here is a shot of the lid. Looks darker than I expected there, but we shall see.

They are going to take the letters Francisco got me (the "Ram Charger" on the doors) and instead of chrome stickers they are going to use gold paint (off the canyon sport) to air brush the letters on.

i think i  like that color. it will look awesome when it is done

rjtx667

Well its a bit less naked now.... they got all the body work done, cleaned it up some and put the bondo/ putty in place.

They are now sanding it all down and prepping it for primer. They plan on 2 coats of etch primer, followed by 3 coats of sanding primer.

Looks like the blue on my 01. I like that. That'll be sharp.

The blue is suppose to be the 2012 Dodge true blue.

The shop has spent a lot of time working on the truck, a lot of little dents that were hard to see because it was bare metal. The hood was really bad, apparently it was in a bind because someone did not install it correctly. This has all been fixed and they finally have it primered. They did 2 coats of etch and 3 coats of sanding. He found about 3 more dents he needs to work out then he will prep it for paint.

The good news is that its going to be awesome when its done, the bad news is that it won't be done in time for the road trip next weekend to hidden falls.

Sorry for the quality of the pics, they had it outside "baking" in the sun and I got what I could.

We its not like it was going off road anyways, but it seems I will be hauling the fam in the durango. It too is 2wd (no lockers or lifts) and will also not be going off road. I will just have to bum rides when I can and play with my boys when I can't.

The body shop was getting a new roof all week, and today they got the skylights in. So with all that mess they were not able to do much with the truck because of all the dirt. They plan to hit it hard again on monday and hopefully when I show up on friday I have pics of a blue truck that is waiting on wet sanding.

I still need to take the headliners to get cleaned up, but thats hard to do without a large enough truck to carry them in  :icon_scratch: I guess that gets to happen once it gets back.
