There is talk of RamJam "testing" sometime this spring. I figured I would open a thread here so we can discuss it and maybe make some sort of plans.
I have not done a lot to the 93 minus getting it mostly road worthy. I need to fix a few more things and steal the 31's off the 91( It has 33's but they are not um trustworthy? :o and not fun to drive with down the road at 70 :nono: ) there is soo much more I want to get done to it, but won't be able to until after the 2000 and 91 are finished.
I am open almost any time as long as I get advanced notice, minus easter weekend.
So are we gonna call it Ram Fest ?? Anyways, General Sam's sounds good just to make it somewhere different. Maybe some of the guys from RCC can make it. Seems like several are in the Houston area already. If I go, it will have to be after April 15 since that will be inventory at work.
I suspect if we put a date on it we can start trying to finish up stuff in time to get running trucks there. (April 26-28?) Ernest would love to take his ferd. I have videos somewhere of his front axle biting the dust mud there.
Now we just need to get the word out :ecomcity:
so we are saying Gen Sam's April 26-28?

As usual, I didn't research this date very much. There doesn't seem to be anything great going on at General Sam's but I don't know about holidays, birthdays, end of the world predictions or anything. Ernest and I are good for this date as far as we know. Ernest could possibly have to go to work on a ship at any time and if that happens he will have to be happy with the extra pay.

So do they pay extra for him to go out with seamen?

I will ask him to be sure but I'm not sure that's the way they phrase it.
Let's assume I haven't made any great mistakes and plan on April 26-28 unless somebody has some real problem now.
Ernest said yesterday, "If it's that far away, I can slow down."
If he goes any slower he will have to back up. I predict he will have to show up with his tools in action. (Mechanic tools)
Whaaaaat - slow down???? He's had a whole year .... minus a couple of days. How long does it take to put stickers on? :violent1:

sticker are for looks... they don't fix a "fix or repair daily" :laughing7: :lol_hitting:
If Ernest can get back on line here he will need to tell you why the cheby he drove today came so close to not making it home...
Hey watch it. The weather and our fine government has played hard on my old school Holley. I poured gas everywhere. lol
The College Station guys would like to consider moving the location of this trip to Hidden Falls. I would like to spend some time looking at activities we would having at RJ and testing stuff that cannot be done at Gen Sam's.
Don't get me wrong. I like Gen Sam's but it doesn't have the hills.
No problem with me. It's actually a lot closer. I was just trying to be a nice guy. :bs:
I am game as well.
If ya'll dont hear my vote. I'm game for what ever is decided. Ron keeps me up dated and so far works with my doings. lol :13: :13:
Think I might go crazy...
get a simple screen and camera's for clearance/ navigation but also get a set of these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AST7NO4/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=
we could throw 1 per truck with a 32gb card... lots o video
:laughing7:
Just don't know about that seller, Schong... err.... Chelong. Heard he can be a real dick.
Ernest, so what other RC items have you got to sell? May be a good time to wheel and deal at this event or Ram Jam. And NO I am not buying back your stickers... :tongue3:
LOL I still have the pop top with a sun roof in it. Tell me what u think its worth to u. I have the J 10. LOL

And, we are not hauling the J-10 to Marble Falls so you can pawn it off to somebody. I don't think we can get away with three trailers at once.
I don't even know what a J 10 looks like but I vote to make it into a Ram Jam event. See who can drive over it and then make it part of the landscape as a permanent landmark. Put a sign on it that says, "Beware of Dodge Trucks Crossing".
So if I'm looking at my map correctly, we stay in Area B normally for the primitive camping. Any idea where the cabin is located in relation to where we normally stay or the room that Ryan is going to be in. Seems like we would have seen it already this last go around in October.
the cabins are in area b, apparently they have added them since October.
He also made mention they are working on new bathrooms for area b as well. Maybe by RJ we can have those.
I think the bunk houses are just about where we have been camping for the last two years. The guy on the phone told me that they were close to the original cabin and within 150 feet of the bathroom we were using last year.
Well, I got some mixed news yesterday. On the good side, I will be transferring to a brand new store just 1.5 miles from home. On the bad side, we start setting it up on the 23rd of this month to open on May 4th. I had applied for that store sometime back but the opening date was kept a secret until now. We will be working pretty much straight through. Don't know if I'll still be able to do the 3 day weekend at this point until I meet with the co-ordinator on the 23rd. I definately don't want to miss this opportunity. The store manager will still be in training during this time and so I will be running the show in the interim, so it doesn't look promising for the weekend off. There will be another store manager overlooking and assisting until the one in training is up to speed though. They are salary and I'm not so I have to have some time off LOL. I'm hoping to swing Sat/Sun or maybe the Sat only at least. It's a bummer to say the least as far as missing the outing. I really wanted to be the one to winch Ernest out of some shit. :laughing7: I'll keep you posted.
well at least we can say congrats on the new job :13:
Richard,
Hope you can make it for at least part of the weekend. We discussed going by and picking up your wife but decided it would probably not be the best idea...
Ron
Sure... who's truck is she driving. :dontknow:
We were thinking more about her cooking breakfast... :040: (http://:040:)
I just can't do it. It would be like asking the Green Hornet to give up Kato. :nono:
its just for the weekend... and she can drive YOUR truck :evil6:
she deserves to see how it does as much as you do.... she helped out on it.
:laughing4:
Hope you can make it, for a day or the weekend. I am going to try and head down Friday morning sometimes.... just not by gate opening time.
Okay, I have made up my mind. The ferd has started several times with no smoke or new oil on the driveway. So, I will not bad-mouth the ferd any more at this time. Ernest is another matter. :laughing4: (http://:laughing4:)
Ernest bad-mouthed me once for miss-spelling his name. I found a grinder today that he had miss-spelled his own name with the marker when he bought it. :035: (http://:035:)
Thats not the first time I've done that :039: :laughing7: :laughing7:
done what? miss spelled your name or bad mouthed Ron?
:laughing4:
Both  :laughing4: :laughing7:
So what did you spell.... Ear Nest??? Yuck! :icon_scratch:
Here is a pic of the receiver we welded on the trailer so we can put a winch on it to pull an old ferd up on the trailer.

So it it going to be a show queen or is it just because somebody knows they are going to be towed back to camp?
:laughing7:
I'm not bad mouthing anyone. :brushteeth: (http://:brushteeth:)
Lol it's o.k we will see how it does.... I will keep a tow strap handy as long as somebody keeps a camera handy... :D
we should have camera action covered :great:
I'm not sure but I'm afraid Ernest is turning the ferd into a thumper truck.
Uhmmm.... what is he up to? Looks like an anchor for when its coasting down a hill....lol
Red neck parking brake :evil6:
It.s the bracket for the rool bar so when I coast upside down.... I dont crush my head.. :laughing4: :laughing4:
Okay guys, my phone says it's gonna rain on Thursday and thunderstorms on Friday. You had better be sure that you have tow attachments at both ends of your trucks. It will be a whole new ball game if the place is wet.
Just remember a Power Wagon sliding down the hill sideways...
:confused2:
I better get busy on that. need to find me something to work as a front mount for the receiver
Ryan on the front of ur RC there is a spot between the main frame that has across member with hole to use as a pattern. Get a flat piece of metal and weld a receiver on it and bolt to that cross member. My buddy has had his like that for the last 5+ years and has used it a lot and put it in a lot of abuse.
I saw that, and am thinking exactly that, but I will have to saw saw some of the front bumper out of the way first. :evil6:
Here's a link for a winch setup from Ledzep_06 build on RCC. I believe it was reply #6. Several guys have something similar. Pretty typical sturdy attachment.
http://ramchargercentral.com/mopar-trucks/1990-w150-'milk-dud'/msg1749841/#msg1749841
For a faster setup you could use the mounting plate made by the winch manufacturer for your unit so it bolts right in and cut it down to fit in between the frame rails and weld it in. I bought the mounting plate made by SuperWinch for mine and bolted it to the top of the frame rails with 6 grade 8 bolts. As you saw, it held really well. I bought 2 attachment points from OKoffroad.com that bolt to the front bumper with 4 grade 8 bolts for each point and some thick angle iron to also connect it directly to the frame since the bumpers are really thin.
Looks like most of the rain is out of the forecast now. It will still be interesting.
Here's a pic of Ernest painting his toolboxes in the yard, using the air compressor From my truck.
Looks more and more like Ernest and I are going on Friday morning than Thursday night.
1. Park closes early on Thursday. We cannot get there before the gate closes.
2. We haven't tested our tandem trailer hookup yet.
3. WE ARE NOT READY YET...
We are also afraid that we would injure someone at work. We don't need anyone laughing hard enough to hurt themselves seeing us leave the shop with a Dodge 1 ton (loaded way down) pulling a trailer with a ferd pickup and a second trailer carrying a Tonka Truck yellow almost Jeep (on Nick's car hauler).
We are not sure when we are leaving. We have decided that our food shopping will be done in Marble Falls after we get there.
It's a little late to be querying who all is coming but it appears that we have both bunk houses reserved. That would make space for 16 people inside for the two nights. I have one reserved and someone else has the other. The more people we have in the cabins, the less I will have to pay and I know that goes for whoever has reserved the other bunkhouse.
When you get to the gate, you might be able to save some money by staying in the bunkhouses. Call me before you arrive and I will tell you what the best option is. (979-571-4455)
Ron, I understand why you wanted insurance now..lol so how close together are the bunkhouses?
Ron, make sure Ear Nest has soap on his shopping list. :brushteeth:

I bought a gallon jug of some oder removal stuff at Sam's, maybe I should bring some of that?
If it can remove the smell from our bathroom because of 2 little boys I am sure it can help here too :laughing7: :victory:
Well, Ramcharger loaded on trailer, gonna bring tent, air mattress (just in case) & pop canopy already loaded.... tomorrow after work Ill get the rest together. I'm gonna try to leave the house 3-4 am friday so I'll get there at a decent time....
We loaded our rigs and did a text drive tonight. I will post a video in a few minutes.
Those of us staying in the bunkhouses--- :sleepy: (http://:sleepy:)
bunks do not have mattresses so you need to bring something soft. An no, that does not mean the neighbor's daughter, or grand-daughter either. :nono: (http://:nono:)
Here is the video:

My wife said did I see that right? Is that a trailer attached to another trailer? Then shook her head. :laughing7:  :13:
That looks crazy... guess that's why it's you driving it. :tongue3:
Got the right man on the job. Hope you guys make it in one piece.
3 or 4 am? your more devoted than I am :laughing7:
I plan on waking up about 8 or 9, then see where we go from there.
I have a lot of work to do tonight before I go to bed though :confused2:
finishing the windshield wiper repair today and loading up... should be leaving wimberley before noon tomorrow.
Got my junk loaded up, all that's left is put cooler in truck...see you guys tomorrow.
Taking off Saturday morning for just the day. :crybaby2: Hopefully arriving early morning.
Man, I really hope the weather holds out. :sunny:
I am more or less loaded up... I need to move the truck a little forward on the trailer, on the test drive it was swaying a bit.
It seems my trailer brakes are staying on more than they should, but I am not sure why so I have to look into that before we head out.
I also have a few last details to see too, Otherwise its loading the cloths and ice chest and us in there.
:13:
I just want to say that I had a blast even though it was a one day trip for me. Feels like we saw a lot, did a lot, and ate a lot. :great:
Can't wait for the next event. Everyone was great. :035:
So when are you guys gonna post some pics and videos???? :happy1:
The suspense is killing us. Yolanda keeps asking me if anyone has posted anything.
I have almost all the pictures and videos. Problem is being able to stay awake long enough to make it happen. I will have some videos as we go along but I may be downloading another converter to make it quicker.
It's gonna take a couple of nights with some sleep to make up for the preparation for the ride, the ride and the trip home.
and then there was this truck...

we might have to ban that photo, not sure who that is in the red shirt... but it almost looks like his head is up's Ernest's ass :evil6: :laughing4:
I know everyone else was thinking it... or at :laughing7: least they are now
Yep.... wonder what he was looking for in there? :dontknow:

Lil Chicken's video is private. Won't let me see it. :dontknow:
That video with Will, Noah and Skip looked like the Internation Hwy trail with that steep drop and then sharp climb. That's the one where Ryan had to give me a one-handed push up the other side back in October.
That 2nd video was funny. I didn't see you guys there until I started climbing.
I heard you guys went through the Bronco Buster trail with those tight squeezes between the trees. Any good videos there?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt-HnsXzr3s&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Try that..... on the Bronco buster, it was fun... but I didn't get any video... wish I would have, it was great....
You know it's funny how there is a lot of pics of me working on my Ferd. But theres no pics of me helping with the dodges. And yes I did help with others. :victory:  :13:
