Projects / Re: Have been working on the jeep.

and here it sits with the 3" all spring lift with some Steel wheels that I bought from a junkyard and painted black. Put some new rubber on it. I love the Hankook tires. Was able to find a set that was 30'' by 9.50. These MT tires so far has performed perfectly in mud, snow and Rain. They are not too loud on the interstate and balanced perfectly needing very little weight.

I bought the wife a truck she wanted and the jeep became mine. I was going to bring my 1990 RC out here to piddle with but the cheepest I could get it shipped was 1200 bucks. So I decided to build on the Jeep. Nothing crazy something to have some fun with and still be a reliable daily driver that will run down the interstate when needed.
So here is the truck I got the wife so I could get the jeep lol

Did not have the RC shipped out here to Ft Sill so I just started working on the Jeep with some of the cash I saved with the last deployment. I have a good bit left to do but here it is so far. Here is want I started with when I bought it for my wife before we left SC

Its a 1996 Jeep cherokee Country. Got all the trimings on it. I do dislike the power windows though. Gonna have to find the Pics of the build now lol

I shipped the 2000 Ramcharger from LA to DFW, 1400 or so miles.... $600 bux, and that was going through a broker... but then again I did not cross country borders. But even if you had it just taken to the border then you or someone else drive it across, could work.

Granted if you can get it free on a work trailer, thats even better.
not to hijack a thread but who did you use? I need to get my RC to me here in Ft Sill from SC. THe best price I could find so far is 920 bucks.

My 90 is bouncy as hell too. I had the springs re-arched with an AAL on it. It settled down some but still its bad.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I only have 5 Ramchargers, a 01 1500, 1985 W350 and the wife has a 96 Jeep. No clue what the crazyness you are talking about. Oh and the Back of one RC is filled to the top with parts that I have found at JY's and said to the wife "hey babe I think I can use that lets get it" (she is my junk yard buddy, we will waste hours in one walking around and pulling parts for my Goats and her Jeep thing. :dontknow:

Shit brother, for 600 clams you can't beat that. I payed 500 for one that has no title for parts   That is a steal of a deal.

i just know it is suppose to stop the crack from getting longer. i don't know if the heat has anything to do with it. i know i am going to have to lay a couple spot welds before i even attempt to drill just to make sure things don't get worse.
Heat does strange things to thin steel. I am only throwing my 2 cents out there from my years of working for a custom fabrication shop as a fabricator and machinist.  It don't always run or crack more but it won't run for sure if you drill it. If the crack is real long drilling the ends and a couple of spot tacks spaced evenly apart is a must. Don't forget to weld both sides if possible.

I've heard people say you should drill the end of the crack then weld the rest of it.
The reason you drill the end of crack is so when you start welding it the heat will cause the metal to expand. When it's expanding the crack will run ahead of your weld puddle if you did not drill it, or I should say its prone to. You still weld the hole up. The hole is just a relief of sorts.
