Vehicle Help / Re: Electrical Issue
November 11, 2014, 12:35:08 PM
Thanks crazzywolfie for the suggestions. I did check the dimmer switch last night and the brights do come on so it isn't that. I am going to the light switch this weekend and see what happens after that. I guess its completely possible for both light to be burned out.

Vehicle Help / Electrical Issue
November 10, 2014, 01:47:15 PM
I could use some help right now. I am having an electrical issue and I don't know what direction to go.

Issue 1-I have since owning the vehicle had a slow bleed down of the battery. I thought that it was related to the lock cylinder not finding its lock position and therefore I changed it out. So now the vehicle does completely shut off when I turn the key back and the radio doesn't pop on when it wants too.

Issue 2-After having it not go anywhere for a little while I disconnected the ground cable so it wouldn't bleed my battery down. Last week after moving in to an new house I started it after four months of it sitting. It took a little bit to get it started but it did start. I noticed that the blinkers where a little slower, proving this by turning on my hazards which causes it to operate normally. When I started using the radio I noticed that my blinkes stopped working. When I stopped to get gas I needed a jump.  But when I was at the stop light it idled just fine. After my jump when I would turn the blinkers on I could audiably hear a relay clicking behind the dash. Also I noticed that when I would moving about 20 MPH my blinkers would be working just fine, but when I would slow down or stop it would go back to being a slow blink, once every two or three seconds.

Issue 3-My headlights are no longer working. I also noticed one of my head lights is half full of water. I have removed the wire harness from the rear and never turned it on with the light full of water fearing that it might make my electrical issue worse. I have bought a new headlight kit allowing installation of new headlights instead of the factory headlights.

Any help would be appreciated.

If it shifts all gears and goes in reverse then its a deal. I have friends who own Cherokees and thats the only problem they had was the tranny goes out at 130k.

Thanks man. I would like to make it out, but I don't think that I will get to make it out there because of work. I would like to meet up with the guys in Houston though I think that would be cool. If any of them are interested.

Hey guys sorry I have been gone. All the rides are looking good. Things have been crazy, changed jobs, was almost married. Crazy. I haven't been able to do alot to the RC just new spark plugs, wires. It still needs some little things but I have to wait until I have time to get it done. Its good to be back though.  :13:

Nevermind I found a valve cover rebuild kit on summit racing. It deletes the oil tube and replaces it with just a cap, but it is what it is.

Thanks guys. I love it. I am having a problem now that I can't seem to find a fix for. I have a oil filler tube that needs the gasket(grommet) replaced because it is leaking and I can't find a replacement. I have ordered them online but I keep getting my money back as I am told that Dodge/Chrysler doesn't make the part any more. Does any one have any suggestions?

So I had found a Ramcharger on line that I wanted to buy for my brother. He really likes mine and has been saying that he wants an old car. The one I found needed some work, but with a tune up I was assured that it should run well and pass all state requirements. So the punk ass kid that was selling it supposedly ran it out of gas and now it wouldn't start. He wanted 900 I offered him 600 because it wasn't running and he didn't know why. So we came to an agreement 675 delivered to my door. Well his trailer broke and he wasn't able to bring the truck last night as agreed. I asked my brother to text him an hour ago and the a*****e sold it to someone else. So pissed off right now. I am not mad that he is a piece of crap, I am upset because my brother really wanted the truck. What a freaking piece of crap. I hate people.

No I didn't forget them. They will not load on the site because the file name. My brother took them on his I-Phone and it is that funky .htm file crap and this site will not accept that kind of photo. I thought that it let me just delete the whole post but I guess not.

Here are some pictures of the exhaust and one of the new radio.

I am not sure the size of my pipes but it is the same size as the pipe coming off the headers and through the exhaust. The only thing that has change is the exhaust tips they are three inch I believe. Yeah my truck doesn't need to pass emissions either.

Yeah I found some of quarter panels online but I don't know if they will be enough. It needs a lot of work. Lol. I don't have any experience in body work so I am going to do some minor work myself, but the rest will have to be done professionally.

Guy if you don't mind me asking what should a decent  rear end rebuild cost? I think that mine may need some work. After about 45 mph there is a definite howl coming from the back of my truck. There is a 4WD center about three miles from my house, but I never have the time to bring her up there. I am just trying to get a number figure to see about a budget so I don't get screwed.

Sixgun- It actually isn't that bad. I really haven't opened it up because I am still a little timid to get her up to interstate cruising speeds. I have been at about 55 and it sounds great. Hell, just idling sounds awesome.

War Wagon- Yeah I didn't think that the wiring would be an issue but it seemed to be. Now with the exhaust there was  alittle confusion. I know that my truck doesn't have cats because its carbed and an 84. There is a piece on the exhaust that looks like cats though and I wanted to cut the exhaust behind that because there is a piece of the exhaust that links the two together and if I eliminated that it would be true dual exhaust, however, because I didn't know what they were for(again not cats but does look like cats) the guy doing my exhaust suggested that I leave them in.

Now for the body work it would be simple if this was a Texas truck, but she wasn't. I got her from Reno. The rear lower quarter panel behind the drivers door is nothing but rust and filler. The opposite near the bumper is show a fair amount of rust through the paint as well.I know its going to take a time and metal to get it back to factory and I already have a paint scheme in mind. All black, flat black. I want to lift it 4" and put 31s, or 33s depending on how much they cost when I get there.

The body work is my main concern. Mechanically, my truck is awesome, also, she looks good now but I know what lies beneath the paint.

Hey Gents I know it has been forever, but I am back in China.

So far the update on my truck is pretty light.

1.  I have replaced the entire stereo. The speakers in the doors had to replaced as well as the speakers in the back. I bought a new radio because the factory one wouldn't push enough power to the new speakers. All in all it was about a grand. The guy who installed said that the wiring looked like a birds nest and had to be completely replaced. The wire running to the back speakers was home entertainment wire.

2. The second thing that needed attention was the exhaust. The hangers in the back were half way through the pipe. The exhaust muffler on the passenger side had rusted through the first chamber. I now have two flowmaster 40s on her.

I will have pictures up when I get back from China. Yes I am back again, but I should be back in a week or so.

My next project is body work. I am going to be moving to another company so I don't know how much time or money I am going to have the next three to four months but when I can I will be tackling that monster hard. There is so much to do be done. How ever mechanically she is in pretty good condition.
