Since Ram Jam is bein thrown around "over there", I think we need to start planning something foe us here.... Looks like Moab Utah is nominated over there, I would love to go but its just not practical.... What are we gonna do this next year? Plans? Ideas? Throw em out & lets see what comes of em.... :icon_salut:
I agree planning must begin, I however, have no idea where we should meet. But a date would be nice so I can start planning for vacation, that way I do not get stuck offshore.
I know everyone likes Marble Falls, and its close for some. But for a change how about General Sams, DSO, or Shiloh Ridge.
I was at DSO yesterday and always vote for it, but I will say that it's a mudding area mainly, so a lot of rigs would not do well there. General Sams is mudding as well from what I've been told. You could always try to use Brazos Valley Off Road Ranch (BVORR) it's near college station and is privately owned, so you have to set up a date to use it, it's not open to the general public.
I dont mind either Generals or Shilo.... I know shilo has been putting a lot if work into the trails getting it back up to where it used to be....
All the places mentioned are Texas right? Boy, that would be a heck of a road trip. Sounds like fun!

RAUSCH CREEK!!! :toothy9:
General Sams and Shiloh Ridge both have a lot of trails. Either would be funnnnn
I think that General Sams and Shiloh are nice areas. I looked up the BVORR and it seems nice but its pricey and they are really strict specifically to a club that meets there every second and fourth weekend. If our meet were to take place during the clubs meeting we would not have full access to the park, and if we paid for a full weekend which would be 750 dollars I would think that it would suck not to have full access. DSO looks nice too, they are all about the same price per weekend. I am down for whatever.
Are there no RC owners in eastern OH/northern WV/western PA/nw MD/sw NY on here?!?! Y'all sing out or somthing - Texas is winning!!! :confused2:
It's mainly a Texas thing I guess.
I'm down for anywhere close.
War Wagon how far would you be willing to travel? Man it sure would be nice to see your RC in person. I think that we should think if we are going to get everyone together then we need to know how far is everyone willing to travel.
I think that it is going to be too hard to get everyone to Texas should that be the choice of the meet. Especially for the guys north like War Wagon. I mean I am willing to travel to New Mexico, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana. I am not sure how that would work for any of the other guys.
I appreciate the thought, but I don't get out much. :tongue3: I'm just hoping some guys around here might want to get together somewhere around here.
Would LOVE to wheel west TX sometime though. Looks like it'd be fun! :great:

I think the only problem with Katemcy would be the 30 people minimum for an open event. Unless you can get them to waive that or organize a run with another group.
Well, my RC isn't set up for rock crawling but that will not keep me from hanging out. If that is where everyone one wants to go then I am cool with it. My truck currently sits at stock height. :disgust: I have noticed that some of these places charge per person and per vehicle so it maybe best to get a group rate.
Never mind I found the kiddie trails that my vehicle would be suited for. :sleepy:

Honestly, I had never heard of off-road parks until RCC about 10 years ago. And, I've never gone anywhere to 4X4 - but, often needed 4X4 to get where I'm going. Someday, I'll make it to one of these new fangled off-road parks/areas.

Your vehicle doesn't have to be built for rock crawling . Hidden falls has Plenty of trails for everyone and so do most places. The majority of ORV parks have by-passes so everyone can enjoy the trails.
Here is lance at Hidden Falls In a Stock RC minus the doors. He went everywhere the rest of us did.
AUUGGGHHH! It bounded his doors off!!! :o
So I hate to be the person who is always bugging everyone but does anyone have an idea when and where this thing is going to be? There is a lot of places in Texas. Is there a timeline? I think Spring would be a great time. Any takers on trying to keep this conversation going?
yup a spring run will be a for sure kind of event! The when, where and how will be decided soon. I have a few minor plans for my black Power Wagon that must be completed first however..... :headbang:
A bunch of us have been to Cline Ranch. At the time it was appointment only. It's just down the road from Brutal Off Road. There were some trails then that we couldn't make but we spent the day there. We had a lot of fun there, too. Danger Dave managed to set his truck on fire early, but by the time we came back down he had replaced the wiring harness and drove it out.
Cline ranch would be awesome! y'all just say when :great:
Couldn't really find a lot of information about the place. I found their facebook page. Are there trails for stockish vehicles? All their pictures just show rock climbers mostly.
They say they have trails from level 2 to 5. I've seen some videos with some stockish 4x4's. Is this place even open. I just saw this video from a fire a year ago.

Don't I know?! Rode my Harley out to Phoenix to help a buddy move to Alexandria, LA back in May. Got my butt handed to me in St Louis by rain first day, the next wonderful northern Texas treated me to strong winds and dust storms. Had I stayed in Amarillo probably would have had my bike destroyed by massive hail due to a supercell. Yeah, it's all about the journey man. I dig it. (seriously, I do)
I am down for Cline Ranch, be a nice change and let me get to check out Brutal's OffRoad and Meet James.
I say we might try 2 outings... a spring and a fall?
Worked pretty good last year.
Any more word on when we plan to have a meet? Spring Date? Just trying to plan in advance since im gone half a month. That and trying to get some projects going so can stop taking the jeep. Noah will be helping me with this.
Also don;t you think we should change the name of this board? Since we are no longer doing or affiluated with RamJam. Maybe just change the name to Meets or Club Adventures. Think its time to separate are selves from the other site. I still get messages asking why we aren;t planning RamJam.
What are we gonna call our outings? Also I can't do any messages or post on RCC because it shows code at the bottom of the page with no buttons. So I don't deal with that place anymore....
Mopar Ramboree :laughing7:
I honestly don;t think we need any fancy names for the "meets". They are just meets, gatherings, etc etc.
But we do need to plan out a date for the next one this spring. So i can plan how many projects I will take apart and not have done by then.

Good God!!!!! Half of Texas is a off road rec area!!! Sweeeeeettttttt. :headbang:
Just be careful to dodge the oilwells and cattle in the back yard. :035:
Here are some of my thoughts on the parks that I know anything at all about:
Although I live in College Station, I have not yet been to our local off road park. Several guys I know go there fairly regularly but I don't think we can plan a meet there. They are not always open and I don't think it is big enough for us to be happy if it is open.
I like to go to General Sam's in Huntsville but some of our guys will feel that they have driven a long ways to not have any hills or rocks. Plus there is that the mud washes off rather easily.
Shiloh Ridge is a great place. Has a bunch of hills but I can't stay out of the mud and there is still mud on stuff that has been removed from my red truck and welded on the yellar truck.
I thought Cline ranch was a great place. Trails were not destroyed by other idiots. We did that ourselves... I don't know how it is as it is managed now but we can find out from James or some of the other local guys.
I would love to go to Padre Island but we would need confirmation on what kind of vehicles can be driven there.
Providing I can even make it it wouldn't matter to me. As long as the company is good, beer is cold (after driving playtime is over of course) and I don't have to be armed to keep from being abducted by the cartel I'm good. Wait, that's west Texas isn't it? ;) Meh, can't be much different than running around in Detroit. ;D
Shiloh is out of the question. i STILL have that crap on my 79 TD from RJ09. for me of course Hidden Falls is a 20 min trip. Cline ranch is good and is 2 miles from my other house. there are trails that have not ben "driven" per say. i was there a few months back with some of those jeep guys and i was seeing trails that needed to be ... broke in. BUT i will go with the flow ..... i will HAVE to just take time off work to go. days off have been few and far between lately. ALSO i will have my house some what ready for visitors sometimes in mid Feb. busy busy ... i have done nothing to my RC but of course Stanley is ready anytime...
also we must have "beer and cigarettes"

forever in search of that RIGHT 39 Plymouth
I have about half of a 55 gallon drum of trany fluid left if Dave wants to try it again.
SO what is the plan?
We need a spring and fall (not summer) get together. Where at and when?
I would say we could do Hidden Falls once because its decent and we all know it, and then venture out and have a new place. The one by James/ Brutal Off road sounds interesting.
I think we need like a April/ October time frame to keep things in decent weather. Not everywhere in Texas is 65 * in the winter and certainly not in the summer.
I like General Sams, Shiloh Ridge, and the new park in Crosby. These are all doable for me. Anything else is a major drive. I like Marble Falls, So. Padre too. Maybe if we go to So. Padre we could pull some old RCC members out of the woodwork.
My parents live in Corpus Christi. Definitely doable. I could talk my Dad into doing a NEW at his place if you like everything crispy... err ... toasted as he calls it. :laughing7:
For me to go to Corpus or Marble Falls I'd have to plan way ahead. I'd have to have a three day weekend or longer. General Sams or DSO are easy for me. Shiloh Ridge is a 3.5 hour drive and doable.

Its 5+ hours for us to go to Shiloh ridge. The driving distance doesn't bother me its All the east Texas Mud Park don't interest me anymore. So I will pass on any of those.

April 20 = Easter
Double bummer for me too. Easter weekend is seasonal changeover from Easter to Graduation at work. May is inventory. I really need to get out of the retail business. An Easter egg hunt at HF would be fun. Probably packed with Jeepers though.

Dont worry Richard once Noah, Lance, and I are all running we will be making more frequent trips up there. I know I will for sure even if its day trips.
Im too far away for just a day trip. But just about any weekend I can make into a 3 day weekend. Goes with being the BOSS! I could do a day trip to Huntsville tho.
Anytime in april is good for me.
At this point, I can't tell what our work load will be that far ahead. I can't tell about Monday, much less later.
As for those that can't make it, it is impossible to find a date that all can come. The only thing is to set a date and live with it. And I always found that the closer to the date, the more reasons will be found that it should have been another weekend.
Determine a date and I'll try to be there.
One problem with Sept and October is some of kids (or grand-kids in my case) will be involved with school activities like football games and halftime stuff.

Ron you are very wise! When Eric's new RC is ready we WILL be making at least a day trip or maybe camp 1 night. This will probably be a late March or early/mid April thing! Y'all will know when the time has come as Eric may not be able to contain himself knowing that he may actually get to drive a Dodge @ Hidden falls!
We can always do early April... trying to remember when we went last year, it was a good time.
Here are the following weekends that I should be available
March 14-16 and 21-23
April 11-13 and 18-20
May 9-11 and 16-18
I would prefer the first weekend that i listed for each month but I don;t have a problem with the second one either.

This is very true, though I must warn everyone. We will need to have medical staff present on this next run... and no not for Danger Dave.... But rather for Lance! With amount of hours he has sanding this RC down to perfection I fear as soon as i run it across a tree, rock or smash a fender he will literally faint, stroke out, or burst in to uncontrollable tears and fall to the fetal postion........... Noah is already mentally prepared for this and will be able to coup with any damage all while yelling " GO FASTER!!! NNNOOOO!!!! YOUR NOT GOING FAST ENOUGH!!
We must prepare for the worst.. Then again it has to make to the trail first.............
Noah, Umm Hows progress :017:
Was this vehicle drive able when you bought it? Are you going with the motor as is for now?
No, the vehicle was rusted to hell and had a questionable drive train. One of those " It ran fine when I parked it 10 years ago"
When we ( By we I mean noah) did the body swap. he also swapped the drivetrain out of my W200. 318/np435/np208. Which was a sumwhat running drive train :dontknow: Well it drove on to the trailer and off when i hauled it to noahs.
Who;s knows what will happen.
If we can;t get it done by then I will ride with noah or lance again. Lance needs proper motivation while driving. :040:

Looks very different now. No bed and trimmed fender wells from what I remember.
Jared's 30 mph run through the water puddle was pretty neat. When the plugs were out and he cranked it over reminded me of the huge sprinklers at a golf course. And, him putting his foot through the floorboard twice trying to stop was kinda neat.
It did stop fine in the water puddle when the engine locked up (full of water).
Next time we plan a HF outing, we should look into using the firing range. I've got a couple of .22 pistols. I was lucky to get those. Yolanda hates guns but I finally convinced her to let me get those. All my arsenal was stolen years ago. Sucks but one of these days.... :evil6:
I would like to go to the range and bust off a few rounds

Ok Ron i have to ask, whats a Nambu?? In the next few weeks i should be hauling my truck down from dads place. Hopefully will get started on fixing it soon after. Not sure if i can make something as early as April or May but once the old girl is back up an running i'm down to drive whereever.
Quote from: 89PWRRAM on February 27, 2014, 06:29:49 PMOk Ron i have to ask, whats a Nambu??
Japanese military pistol & rifle maker. LOTTA Nambu rifles & pistols ended up as War Trophies in America after WWII.
They weren't letting the guys where my dad was send guns home. He ran a carpenter crew, building quarters on islands in the Pacific. He built a false bottom in a box of clothes and sent a note with it to save the bottom because he wanted to make a table out of it when he got home.
Grandfather was a carpenter too. Decided it was a fake and took it apart. The pistol was in pieces. He figured out how to put it together and although he had never handled a semi-auto, he loaded it in the house. It has a pretty soft trigger and after he accidentally pulled it, he couldn't stop until it was empty. There were holes in the floor, walls and ceiling. He never touched the gun again.
It's a very accurate pistol, 8 mm, about the caliber of a 32 with almost no kick and very good sights. It looks a little like a Luger. It is not a concealed carry weapon.
By the way, my pistol was made in April of 1944. Nambus were considered to be of lower quality toward the end of the war but the loss in quality is in the finish, not in operation or accuracy. The gun was designed in 1902 and improved off an on till the end of WW2.
My wife was down for a easter outing... go have a "big" easter hunt for kids of all ages lol.
We could do that, or the weekend after..
So Vote time.
April 18-20
April 25-27
Lets Vote and get this thing planned and rolling.

In all honesty, Ernest and I will not be likely to be able to make either date. I'm having transmission problems and if I have to change the transmission, the magnum is going in at the same time. So, the yeller truck most likely will be down. I still have a Cherokee to drive but it looks like both Ernest and I will be on a boat at that time. We have too many jobs that will be working at that time and we will probably have to help fill slots for a month or so.
If we are at home, we will make every effort to come but Ernest cannot come on Easter weekend if he is at home.

Dont worry Ron, There will be other weekends.
Im in the hopes that we don;t just do do two outings a year with Ramcharger.net but rather several that way everyone has a chance to make at least one or two.
At one time The RCC Texas chapter was doing Meets every month to every other month. It was alot of fun back in the day. The groups were small and we had them everywhere from San Antonio to Alto.

I agree Will, I know everyone has there own life and resposiblities to deal with.
But it doesn;t mean we can;t mix in a little wheeling now and then
I think the biggest thing is the cost of gas for guys traveling the long distances.
Mine isn't so much the cost of fuel, it's having time enough to make it feasible. I don't want to drive six or seven hours just to wheel one day and have to leave early the next day to get home. I need a three day weekend to make things work. I can do a day trip to Huntsville, Crosby, or similar places. I'm sure it's almost the same with Will. I'd love to be able to spend three days wheeling at Marble Falls. A lot depends on this company I work for. Being the supervisor it's harder to get days off unless it's a holiday or we are between projects. Winter has finally taken a toll on my 20' car hauler. A new deck is much needed. The Dodge needs an alternator (I think) the Zuke needs a battery and some TLC. Wish I was closer to Noah. I will make what I can and sulk when I can't be there. lol
I agree Skip.... Only for me the girls say they don't like campin anymore... So if I go its just me, maybe i can talk a friend into coming along but then there goes getting 2 work schedules together... I have a few things I want to do to the Old Ramcharger before going out again but just ain't got time or $$....
Ok April 18-20th sounds good to me.
Lets start making a list of who can try to make it. I will have the fam with me, so that will entail the easter egg hunt and all.
Sounded like they only had 1 cabin free still, I grabbed it for myself and that should give us a meeting place.
