General Discussion / Look what I found ...
November 11, 2012, 08:00:44 PM
Look what I found on the side of the road.

A bit out of my budget but looks interesting.  93 Ramcharger with 360/727  The paint is faded and surface rust on roof.   I've seen this RC  in front of this Goodyear store for some time but not with the for sale sign, so the owner must work there.  It was Sunday so the shop was closed.  It also has a lifetime powertrain warranty on axles, transfer, transmission, and motor.  Hmmm...  Asking $4,000.

I found it while taking a trip out to Boerne, TX to meet a guy named Aaron who collects old PowerWagons.  I was checking out the 383 motor.  He has a herd of them with 2 pretty nice ones in the shop on his property.  I'll try and get pics when I go back on Tuesday.

When I open RCC, at the top of the page, it has 2 options:

1) show unread posts since last visit
2) show new replies to your posts

I really like these.  Can we do that here?

You never really finish working on these trucks so I figured I'd make a spot to show what's the latest news.

I spent today installing the winch I purchased before Ram Jam 2012.  I had already extended the front bumper in preparation for this project.  I had purchased a SuperWinch 8500 with their matching winch mount.  I also purchased a roller fair lead to go with it.  Caught a really good deal on Amazon.com.  Never had a chance to install and it's been sitting on the sidelines while I spend most of my time with the RamCharger lately.  Well, to install means I needed to cut some more bumper.   :laughing7:

I measured and notched the bumper with my handy dandy don't wanna die Harbor Freight tools cutting wheel.  Best $20 bucks ever.  I had to re-wire it a couple of times but no biggie.  After setting it up in the new little cubbie hole, and bolting the winch and roller fair lead to the mounting plate, I discovered that I would not be able to drill some of the holes into the frame without removing the bumper.  After debating whether to remove the bumper (way too hot outside) or cutting the top lip off the bumper (faster), the cutting wheel won. I also had to notch where the license plate mounts so I had to drill a couple of holes to lower it a hair and a half.

It came out nice with the top lip gone.  Makes the bumper look flat.  Wired it up and drilled some holes for the mount plate and it was done.  I replaced the black bolts with some HD grade 8.8 stainless steel bolts that came with the kit.

My nephew is in the National Guard and they show him some links to some funny stuff on YouTube.  This one is called Action Figure Therapy.  There 's a bunch but a handful are real funny.  Enjoy.

What front axles were offered on 1/2 tons and RC's for 92 and 93.  Just asking because my 91 FSM shows only D44 and D60.

I remember reading before that the 76 RC FSM's are non-existant. Do you have a 77 RC FSM?

Projects / 1976 Big Block RC build
July 27, 2012, 10:49:29 PM
Today is first day of my new to me 1976 Ramcharger.  My motto has always been, " Turning Trash into Fun! ".  Usually take Junkyard dogs and turn them into fun dependable vehicles.  Nothing fancy.  This will be my first 4x4. I want it to be a trail rig that is street legal.  Picked up this Orange big block RC shell from San Marcos, TX from a RCC member, PGRINGO for $300.  This mama needs a lot of love.  Serious rust issues on the top and a little on the fenders.  Inside floor actually looks decent.  Needs front buckets, motor and trans, radiator, and pwr steering pump.  Master cylinder looks older than dirt and window channels, seals and possibly regulators need to be replaced.  Good news is that I have a 383/ 727  at my parent's place in Corpus Christi, TX about 2.5 hours away.  Both were running when pulled.  Unfortunately, the 383 is torn apart.  I have a possible line on front buckets from a buddy and a top from another buddy.  I would love to keep it topless but without a covered place to park it, the timing isn't right yet.  I really got to thank my loving wife and her family.  They helped me a bunch to get this in motion and a place to keep it for now. My brother-in-law really helped a bunch and wore an orange t-shirt to honor the old girl. LOL   My wife is very supportive and is as excited as I am.  Here's a few pics.  Check out my wife Yolanda doing her imitation of the Titanic pose and giving a new meaning to bucket seat. LOL ;D

Site Help / Pic sizing
July 25, 2012, 11:37:59 PM
 >:(  I had my pic resizer set to 800x600 which is what RCC limits their pics to.

I noticed that this site has a 128 kb limit which is very small.

I need more width for full effect....

BIGGER IS BETTER....
