If the IAC is sticking it can cause the truck to flood on decel and not throw a code. One of the many reasons I put a mag mpfi in my 91.

 Right at 6". I would not worry your rears will settle. When I installed superlift 6 ers in the rear it was about 8" until they settled. One trick I learned on rears is don't tighten the spring eye bolts until the weight of the truck is on them.

If it only does it coming back down to an idle I would check the IAC motor.
