can't beat the reliability of a v belt. they almost last forever. s belts tend to stretch or the tension gets weak and you loose your belt and them belts are not very cheap. v belts at least tell you when they are getting loose and you can't beet the tensioner.

then what intake did you have on it in the picture you posted on page 15?
#754
i thought the M1 was already on the engine because of the picture he posted had it installed already.

i wish i could get a smaller pulley but i think i am stuck using what i got. don't know if they make smaller v-belt pulleys. i know i don't want to downgrade to serpentine belts. i will definitely have to remember this for later. i think i could use a bit extra power for the ramcharger when idling.

well i thought things were going pretty good until after i got the 75 amp alternator installed. i think it must have a bad bearing. the thing got as hot as my heater hoses in the maybe 5 minutes it was running and it seemed to whine a lot when put under load and you revved the engine. almost sound a bit like a supercharger. did seem to keep my voltage gauge steady. no fluttering around a bit when idling. so i guess i may be stuck with the 65amp alternator for a bit longer. think the 65 amp alternator may need to be rebuilt though. there seemed to be something about the way it would spin when i had it off that didn't seem right to me. i think whatever i was feeling may also be related to the voltage gauge fluttering.

now i did get around to swapping backup lights. i didn't quite like the look of the new lights and how you couldn't really adjust them but they seem to work good and put light where you would want it when backing up.

well i think might be doing a bit of an upgrade tomorrow. been talking with PnishrPW over on dodge talk and i learned that denso alternator should bolt on in place of a 65amp alternator with about no modification. just have to adjust the lengths of the of the hollow tube spacer things on the pivoting bolt and shim the alternator to line up perfectly. should be no problem. only thing that sucks is i will only be upgrading to a 75amp denso that came off my 91 but i guess it will have to be a stepping stone to the denso 136amp alternator that i would eventually like to get. hopefully i will see about another 5 amps at idle. could really use them when i got the truck in reverse. really thinking about removing the 2 100w backup lights that are hiding under the bed and replacing them with the 55w ones i have. i can see just as much with the 55w lights as i can with the 100w lights.

also if you are looking for any 70's dodge ram parts you could try contacting PnishrPW on dodge talk he use to have a lot of NOS. don't know exactly what he has left but i think he may have a fair bit left.

I overheard a conversation that my manager was having with this lady.  She was driving during the rain and her car stalled out so she left it and her husband picked her up.  They came back later and it was under water.  Depending on how you look at it, guess she got lucky.

Where I live, it is just outside city limits and the Sheriff's Dept is constantly watching for people to cross the barricades and pop them with a ticket.  There was this one puddle I wanted to cross but ended up going 5 miles out of my way to avoid the chance of a ticket.  We went through deeper water at Hidden Falls and I was in the truck. :angry5:
i guess someone slowed down too much for a puddle. i know if i see a puddle and have to go through it i don't slow down. if anything i put the skinny pedal a bit farther down.

sucks that law enforcement is such a bummer. i think up here if you cross a barricade you wont get a ticket but if you get in a accident your insurance is void which completely makes sense to me.

sounds like you are just getting the weather we had a couple of days ago. rain suck. we had so much rain in a short time on Tuesday that there was some places where there was huge puddles in the road. i know i hit 2 of them when i went to pick my nephew up from school but they were gone not even 10 minutes later. i also decided i will need to see about upgrading my alternator soon. every time i came to a stop things seemed to be discharging.

thats funny. i did my final driving test in my ramcharger and the guy behind the counter wrote charger. the other guy came out expecting a charger :laughing7:.

i think my dad might have the tool for taking the trim off or knows what it looks like since he did do body work for most of his life and he has owned many dodges. can you get replacement plastic clips? i don't know if i want to take the glass out. the roof may end up coming off  if i take the glass out.

i don't want to hear that. i was hoping to take the trim off and sand blast and possibly paint around the window if i have to. don't want to have to take the glass out.

Leaks SUCK!

I've got some bad insulation around my doors right now - heavy rain and/or snow melt leaves a little puddle on the door sill, so I'm gonna cheap-azz caulk it with silicone here this summer (just leave the doors open to let it dry all day - probably the day I try to install & set up the cb radio!), until I can order some replacement foam rubber from one of the aftermarket places.

That's annoying enough as it is - can't imagine what a PITA a roof leak would be!  :angry5:
i don't mind having water sitting on the sill. as long as it don't come in and start rusting my brand new floors.

ya. it really sucks because this means i will pretty much have to tear apart most of my interior to track down the issue. there is some rust starting to develop around the 1 rear window. it don't look like it is leaking but who know. hopefully we don't get too much rain in the next couple of weeks. i would really like to get a proper sand blasting mask before i start doing to much more work.

getting a bit more upset with this thing. it started raining real hard and i had to drive it and i started noticing more water coming in. found some dripping out of the seat belt hole and also notice some on the panel below the window. i also had to open the tailgate to secure my nieces car seat and found more water.

i think it is one someone stuck in to fill the hole where a cb antenna use to be. it was fairly dry and i was trying to find a new one to replace it last year but no one had one so i just put some silicone on the plug and stuck it back in. i might have missed a few spots last time but hopefully i got it right this time. i think i may also have to see about inspecting the rust on the roof. hopefully there is no holes.
