would that thing even have a o2 sensor since it is carbed?

did you also blow out the charcoal canister line before you hooked it back up? you should be able to get a distributor with vacuum advance for 86 ramcharger. now if you can't afford to spend a lot of money then you don't have to replace the distributor with a vacuum advance version. it will run. its not like you would really have a place to hook up the vacuum advance anyway.

now you could try the HEI distributor on ebay. then just get a 12v coil and some spark plug wires off a magnum engine and you will have got rid of the lean burn ignition system for about $150.

i am not sure how the how the charcoal canister failing would effect a TBI system. i am not even sure how the heck charcoal get in the float bowl of a carb when they fail. if you think yours is failing you could buy one of those clear fuel filter and install it in the charcoal canister line.

ya. you can use the carb but it don't have the ported vacuum port. it will run but i don't think it will run the best it can. now some people say you can use intake vacuum and just adjust the timing accordingly. if you upgrade to the 4 pin ignition system but can't afford a new carb i think you could also just leave the old distributor with no vacuum advance.

different carb for what? if you remove the lean burn system i think you will have to get a different carb.

i would probably still put the stock coil back on for piece of mind in the future. now did you blow out the carb with compressed air or something before you reassembled it? maybe some of that charcoal got where it should not be. if you do have the lean burn system and want to replace it you should check out summit racing for the 4 pin ignition system wiring harness. you can get them for about $20 plus shipping.

i don't think you would need to go as far as replacing the distributor. was there anything in the carb that was not normal when you rebuilt it? i would probably at last put the stock coil back on. personally i don't trust those accel super stock coils.

i prefer the smell of gas mixed with 2 stroke motor oil. not a big fan of the smell of straight gas but then again that could be because i leak bit every time i fill up the ramcharger.

glad you should hopefully be getting the adapter thing fixed. i know i would have probably lost all patience by now and tried using rubber line and hose clamps.

put $20 of fuel in it and made a new fuel line to go between the fuel pump and fuel filter on my 81. the stock one was pretty old and a bit twisted from when i installed a new fuel pump years ago. also hooked up the return line. i had disconnected it because i was having issues with too much fuel going back to the tank and not enough was getting to the carb. so far so good.

after i figured out that i locked my keys in my truck i took the ramcharger out shopping. after i got back from doing that i fixed the wipers on the ramcharger since they didn't want to work and we are suppose to have a bit of rain. they had power but wouldn't move. i think they might have been kind of jammed. took the cowel off rotated the arm on the engine a tiny bit and everything started working fine again.

i would guess any rust your truck has is minor compared to what we see up here. the cab supports on my 93 were pretty much gone when i went to go fix the wobbly drivers seat.

thats a lot of vehicles to be moving. i guess you could try getting your wife to load up the vehicles an have you move them. kind of like rolling storage units.
